Frye to direct Westrec expansion

ENCINO, Calif. – Jim Frye, CMM has returned to Westrec Marinas, reported its president, Bill Anderson, in a recent statement. Frye rejoins the organization as vice president and will spearhead a new expansion plan for the organization.

This represents what appears to be a new stage in Westrec’s development. The company underwent aggressive expansion in the early 90s but has since made few such purchases, focusing instead on internal growth.

Frye’s prior experience with Westrec involved serving as an area vice president from 1989 to 1997 before taking the helm at the national trade group Association of Marina Industries (AMI), formally known as the Marina Operators Association of America (MOAA) and the International Marina Institute (IMI). For the past year, Frye has served as president of Atlanta-based Vinings Marine Group.

“We’re delighted to have a person of the experience and caliber of Jim Frye back in the fold at Westrec,” said Anderson. “Jim’s experience in marina management, leading the marina association and as an advocate for the marina industry will serve us well as we look to grow the role Westrec plays in providing quality marina and boating experiences across the country and around the world.”

“Westrec has for many years been building and refining the excellent marina management team necessary to deliver the experience of recreational boating,” commented Frye. “A strong foundation of accounting practices and human resources development provide the support necessary for property level managers to be successful and to focus on their role in providing excellent customer service. Although acquiring marinas can be challenging, and many are working at it, delivering competent management and the skill set necessary to revitalize those marinas into sustainable, growing businesses requires the resources of talent, energy and experience found at Westrec.”
