New Mainship engineering director appointed

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Mainship Corp. has named Stephan Vitus head of engineering and chief designer, the company said in a press release today.

Vitus joined Luhrs Marine Group in 2000, where he previously worked in the European office of Hunter Marine UK. He transferred to the United States in 2004 and began working in tandem with Hunter chief designer Glenn Henderson, prior to his new appointment.

Vitus now has primary responsibility for Mainship’s new product development efforts including design, deck styling, ergonomics and interior layouts. In addition, he serves as the key corporate liaison for all Luhrs Marine Group brands relative to international product compliance.

“We are very pleased to have the caliber of professional marine veteran Stephan Vitus to head up our engineering and design program,” said Jim Krueger, Mainship vice president. “Mainship has a new product initiative underway and Stephan’s working knowledge of high tech construction processes, coupled with his European design experience, will contribute to Mainship’s leadership position in the global trawler marketplace.”
