BoatTEST.com gets a new editor

STAMFORD, Conn. – Captain John Wenz, who has been a test captain for the last five years, has been hired as the full-time editor for BoatTEST.com, the company said in a press release Wednesday. His responsibilities include editing all tests and related material, as well as editing BoatTEST.com’s weekly e-newsletter sent to more than 150,000 subscribers.

Wenz has tested over 100 boats for BoatTEST over the years and has a wealth of technical and hands-on boating experience.

He graduated from New York Maritime College and holds a U.S. Coast Guard license as a deck officer on unlimited tonnage vessels as well as a 200-Ton Master’s license. He has been a professional yacht captain since 1977 and has commanded sail and power boats.

Wenz is an American Boat & Yacht Council Standards accredited professional marine surveyor and is a Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors member. He chairs a municipal government committee concerned with waterfront access and sits on the board of state and regional marine trade organizations.

“John adds a great deal of talent and expertise to the BoatTEST.com team and will allow us to do an even better job of testing and providing useful buying information for the boat-buying public,” said Jeff Hammond, BoatTEST.com president.
