NMMA takes on new legislative counsel for D.C. office

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Marine Manufacturers Association has hired a new legislative counsel in its Washington, D.C., government relations office, the organization said in a statement today.

Bryan Zumwalt joins NMMA as its new legislative counsel after serving on Congressman Brian Bilbray’s (R-Calif.) legislative staff. Before his time in Bilbray’s office, Zumwalt worked on the House Resources Committee, where he specialized in energy policy. He graduated from the University of Idaho and earned his law degree from Ohio’s Case Western Reserve University.

“Bryan brings considerable legislative and policy experience to our NMMA government relations efforts on a number of important legislative initiatives in the coming year,” said Monita Fontaine, NMMA vice president and senior counsel of government relations.

Zumwalt, a California native and boating and water skiing enthusiast, is also a fly fisherman and grew up on the King River. He replaces Jeffrey Gabriel, who left in December to head up the legislative staff of Congressman Chris Carney (D-Pa.).
