Simrad director named NMEA manufacturers director

EVERETT, Wash. – Simrad, Inc.’s Tom Burke, national product director, has been elected a manufacturers director for the National Marine Electronics Association, Simrad said in a press release Wednesday.

Burke has decades of experience in the marine electronics industry and officially began his three-year term on Jan. 1.

Burke is one of three directors representing the interests and perspectives of marine electronics manufacturers to NMEA leadership and members. His duties will begin right away; a two-day meeting with NMEA’s board of directors is scheduled for later in January to set key goals and strategies for the coming year.

“The NMEA organization is very important to the industry, however, it is by definition primarily dealer oriented,” Burke said. “It will be our job to work with NMEA’s leadership to ensure that the best interests of the whole industry are considered when goals are established, plans are developed and important decisions are made.”
