Shipwright hired by Davis Consulting

LISLE, Ill. – Allen Rawl, a shipwright with more than 30 years experience in wooden shipbuilding and restoration, has joined Davis Consulting Group marine engineers as a consultant, Davis & Company Ltd., said in a press release Wednesday. Rawl’s addition brings the company’s nationwide marine surveyor and naval architect team to ten. The group specializes in engineering, design and accident reconstruction; fire and explosion cause and origin; forensic engineering; and commercial vessel surveying.

Rawl has built a number of vessels for organizations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and California. The U.S. Park Service has contracted him as a wooden ship expert in completing the condition and valuation survey of the steam schooner “Wampa.”

“Allen’s expertise will be applied to projects involving the diagnosis of failure mode/s, analysis of repair projects involved in litigation and consultation in repair or restoration projects on wooden ships and boats for our clients,” said Greg Davis, DCG president. “He will also support our marine surveyor’s work with specialized wooden boat insurers, such as Hagerty Classic Marine Insurance Agency. He brings very valuable expertise capabilities to assist in projects for these specialized clients.”
