Tige names new director of materials
ABILENE, Texas – Tige Boats has appointed Scott Robinson to director of materials, the company said in a statement Tuesday. Robinson comes to Tige with more than 15 years of materials management experience in the marine industry.
“Scott will be a tremendous asset to the Tige team,” said Tom Austin, vice president of manufacturing. “His knowledge and expertise in the area of materials control will further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our purchasing and materials departments. Scott’s insight and understanding of the industry will also undoubtedly lead to new innovative ideas for Tige.”
As the director of materials, Robinson will be responsible for sourcing and qualifying suppliers, negotiating prices for products and supervising all aspects of purchasing, including inventory control, while ensuring that all purchases meet Tige’s high quality standards. He will also analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepare market analysis reports.
“Tige has a great program already in place for control of materials,” Robinson said. “I believe that my experience will allow me to tweak areas of the program and make it even better. As Tige continues to grow and expand as it has done so enormously in the last 15 years, the need for a stringent materials process will be even more demanding. I know I can handle those demands.”
