Glacier Bay signs on new VP

MONROE, Wash. – Power catamaran manufacturer Glacier Bay Catamarans has hired Mike Burns as its new vice president of sales and marketing, the company reported in a recent statement.

Looking to expand domestic and international markets, Burns brings 18 years of marine industry knowledge, experience and relationships to the position, according to the boat builder.

During the past eight years, Burns served as part of the Smoker Craft management team, focusing on marketing and dealer development in the western United States. While there, he spearheaded initiatives that powered Smoker Craft’s market share to number one in his region, Glacier Bay reported.

“With the recent expansion of our facility and innovative new products, Glacier Bay is poised for significant growth,” said Glacier Bay President and Founder Larry Graf. “Mike has the passion and skills to help us implement that vision.”

Over his more than 45 years in the marine industry, he also served as director of OEM Sales for the Mercury Division of Brunswick, as VP of sales and marketing for Mirage Boats and as a salesman for Hawley’s Boats and Motors in Fife, Washington.

“Mike has industry knowledge and relationships with engine manufacturers and financial institutions; he is also an excellent organizer, who can pull projects together,” observed Graf, who started Glacier Bay in 1986. “We foresee that he will use all these strengths to develop our dealer opportunities worldwide as well as continue to spread the word about our quality products.”
