Eddie Dyer remembered with Mel Barr Award
LAS VEGAS – The National Marine Representatives Association honored the memory of Dyer Specialty Company’s Eddie Dyer with its annual Mel Barr award at the Marine Aftermarket Accessories Trade Show, NMRA said in a statement yesterday. Jay Sanders, NMRA president, and Amy Collins, Boating Industry national sales manager, made the presentation at the Industry Awards Ceremony. Dyer’s daughter, Kelly Dyer Zymbroy, accepted the award.
Created as a tribute to marine representative Mel Barr, a NMRA founder and its first president, the award honors an individual who has contributed to the industry’s improvement. NMRA representatives vote on the recipient.
Now under the guidance of Kelly Dyer Zymbroy, the company is celebrating 50 years in the marine industry. Dyer Specialty Company continues to utilize independent representatives to help grow its business. The company offers vinyl letters, numbers, letter sets, key floats, Dyer Sportscals and styrene signs.
Eddie Dyer grew up in the industry and inherited a strong esteem for representatives. He mentored many young representatives and helped them develop their businesses. He was killed on his motorcycle on May 14, 2005 by a hit and run driver.
