NMTA members elect three to Board of Trustees

SEATTLE – Three members of the Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA) were elected to the regional trade group’s Board of Trustees during its annual election earlier this month.

Voting members elected Patrick Baker of Boater’s World, Neil McCurdy of Grand Banks Yachts and Jerry Todd of SonShip Yacht Sales to its board.

Baker, the Washington district manager for Boater’s World Marine Centers, has been serving on the NMTA Board of Trustees for the past three years. For the past year, he has served as the Treasurer of the association and has already been appointed to retain that position in 2006-07. In addition to his officer position on the Board of Trustees, Patrick served as chairman of the Boat Show Committee for the past year. His first involvement with the NMTA was serving on the Boater Education Committee and the Fish Committee.

McCurdy is vice president of worldwide sales for Grand Banks Yachts in Seattle. Prior to joining Grand Banks, he was the VP/General Manager for Yachtworld.com from 1998-2001. He’s been a member of the Seattle Yacht Club for more than 25 years. He is involved in both domestic and international manufacturing, dealer sales, distribution, service, warranty, legal, operational and finance issues.

Todd, regional vice president of SonShip Yacht Sales Corporation in Seattle, is a veteran of the yachting industry. He has been involved in numerous NMTA committees, sat on the board and was a Boat Show Chair for the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association, acted as the western regional representative of the National Marine Manufacturers Association Speakers Bureau, and is an ongoing board member for the Salvation Army.

All three will serve a three-year term beginning July 1, 2006.

Also named to the Board of Trustees through a vacancy created by Baker’s appointment as Treasurer was Mark Helgen, of Olympic Boat Centers. Pat Jutte of Adventure Yachts, Inc. in Seattle, Jeff Lindhout of SeaSport Boats in Bellingham, and Larry Carpenter of Master Marine in Mount Vernon and a 15-year board veteran are retiring from the NMTA Board of Trustees.

Other officer appointments confirmed by the Board of Trustees during its June meeting include: Alan Bohling of Seattle Boat Company as Board chairman and Dwight Jones of Elliott Bay Marina as vice-chairman.
