GEM adds two engineers to growing staff

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – GEM Products recently added two engineers, Joe Gumino and Francis Mami, to its growing staff, strengthening a department that has developed more than 150 new and enhanced products and services in the past two years, the company said in a press release Wednesday.

“The addition of Joe and Francis further validates our commitment to create the best stainless steel parts on the market today,” said Matt Bridgewater, GEM president. “Few if any companies of our size have an engineering department at all, let alone a team this strong and passionate about the business.”

Gumino brings more than ten years of drafting and design experience, having worked in various engineering positions in the medical, aviation, automotive and automation industries. He has extensive knowledge of AutoCAD and 3-D drafting, and an impressive amount of hands on experience in rapid prototyping, machine design, plastics and injection molding. Gumino received his bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University.

Mami, a native of Sierra Leone, attended Tongi University in Shanghai, where he became fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Mami is GEM’s mechanical engineer based in China. He knows the inner workings of a Chinese foundry from four years of experience in a Chinese metal works factory. Mami will be an asset to GEM as the details formerly lost in translation by Chinese interpreters will no longer be an issue as he is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
