AMTECH names Harry Nowack Memorial Scholarship winner
CANTON, Ga. – Marine technician George Vago of Hayward, Wis., was awarded the inaugural Harry Nowak Memorial Scholarship at the Association of Marine Technicians’ annual meeting in Orlando, AMTECH said in a statement Thursday. The scholarship honors Harry Nowak, a charter member and board member of AMTECH, who died in 2004.
The honor recognized Vago’s winning entry in a national essay competition, where he discussed the value of technical training in the vocation of marine technology. He will receive a $500 as the award winner.
Vago is an experienced technician and a student. He is employed at Earl’s Marine in Hayward, Wis., and is currently enrolled in the Marine Repair Technician program at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Ashland, Wis.
