President, two directors step down at Stratos/Champion

PORTLAND, Ore. – Three key members of Stratos/Champion management team have stepped down from their positions for reasons currently unknown, www.bassfan.com reported in a story earlier this week.

Former Stratos/Champion president Gary Clouse, Stratos sales director Hank Baker and Stratos/Champion marketing director Teresa Johnson have all left the company, according to the story.

BassFan said the resignations “came as a shock to the company and the industry as a whole,” and said that no reason had been provided publicly to explain them.

Genmar Holdings Inc., which owns both Stratos and Champion, has replaced Clouse with Don Wood, who was moved from his former position of Genmar VP of dealer development. Baker and Johnson have not yet been replaced, according to the story.

Wood told BassFan that he was in California when he received news of the departures from Roger Cloutier, COO and president at Genmar.

“He told me what happened and I about fell on the floor,” Wood said. “Although there are all kinds of rumors out there. I’m telling you straight: We do not know why they left.”

Wood said his goal moving forward is to manage the business and that he would like to maximize that business for the company and its dealers with the five months they have left in the 2006 model year.
