New VP joins Simrad

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – Simrad, Inc. has hired Lou Rota for the company’s newly created position of sales vice president, said Brian Staton, Simrad president, in a statement Wednesday.

“Hiring a professional with Lou’s background and track record of success is a very positive step for Simrad,” Staton said. “His experience and knowledge of the market gives us a competitive edge we’ll need as we move forward with our plans to increase brand penetration and sales across the yachting market.”

In this new position, Rota will assume responsibility for North American sales for Simrad electronics and Simrad/B&G Performance Racing Products. He will work alongside David Parksinson, who continues in his position as national sales director.

Rota comes to Simrad with 15 years of sales leadership experience in the marine electronics industry, most recently as vice president of sales of Brunswick New Technologies-Marine Electronics. In this position, Rota was responsible for company-wide sales of marine electronics through servicing dealers, distributors, national accounts and OEM boat manufacturers.

Rota has been vice president of sales and marketing for Northstar Technologies and served as national sales manager for Robertson Marine Electronics, an autopilot technology developer Simrad acquired in 1993.

”In many ways, it feels like I’m coming home,” Rota said, referring to the connection between Simrad and Robertson, where he started his career in marine electronics back in 1991. “This is a very exciting time to be joining Simrad. The recent purchase of the company by Altor has created an infusion of new energy, focus and investment.”
