Yamaha creates new management position

KENNESAW, Ga., 1/9/2006 – Yamaha Marine Group has appointed Martin Peters, Roswell, Ga., as Communications & Dealer Education manager, a new department manager position, according to a recent statement from the company.

Peters, former manager, Corporate Communications for Porsche Cars North America, will be responsible for all Marine Group consumer, business and corporate publicity initiatives, as well as Yamaha University dealer management education programs, Yamaha reported. To effectively implement his duties, Peters will be responsible for the direction and management of two key Yamaha marketing partners, the Walker Agency for public relations and the Stemnock Group for dealer training.

Prior to joining Porsche in 1999, Peters was manager, Public Relations for Michelin North America, where he designed and implemented programs to boost the performance image of Michelin and BFGoodrich brand tires. In addition, he supported the French tire manufacturer’s circuit and off-road motorsports efforts, according to Yamaha.

Peters once produced a television program for “Outdoors Maryland” on the lost art of building Chesapeake Bay log racing canoes, which not only hooked him on boating, it won an Emmy, Yamaha reported. He later crewed these unusual three-log wide sailing craft and he’s been a boater ever since.

Prior to holding positions in public relations, Peters worked as feature editor for Road & Track Specials and as head writer for Maryland Public Television’s “MotorWeek.”
