Hunt Yachts names president

SOUTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Hunt Yachts Chief Executive Officer Winn Willard and the rest of the company’s directors have appointed Peter Van Lancker as president of Hunt Yachts, the company reported in a statement Friday. The appointment confirmed in title what Van Lancker has been doing for the semi-custom deep-V powerboat builder.

“This should be a clear indication of our confidence in Peter and in his enormous breadth of experience in building both boats and boatbuilding companies, which is already evident in our current success,” Willard said.

Van Lancker came to Hunt in 2001 as vice president of new boat operations, a further appointment in a career among a number of builders in the industry. These include Tillotson-Pearson, C.E. Ryder, Newport Offshore, Black Watch, Boston Whaler and OMC. Van Lancker has been credited for many innovations not only in manufacturing and technology but also in style and marketing.

Hunt Yachts builds a line of authentic Hunt Deep-V boats, each designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates (Boston). Van Lancker has been involved in Hunt’s Surfhunter 25, 29 and 33, as well as the Harrier 25 and 36, developing plans for additional versions and new models, and in implementing methods to further improve Hunt products and production.
