NMEA names 2005 Technician of the Year

SEVERNA PARK, Md. – The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) has named Silvio Araujo of Paradise Marine as Technician of the Year for 2005, it reported in a statement today.

Araujo was presented with the NMEA trophy at this year’s Annual Convention & Exposition at The Registry Resort & Club in Naples, Fla.

A panel of judges chooses the Technician of the Year based on technical competency, as attested by employers, manufacturer satisfaction, FCC and NMEA technical certification, professional growth, and references, according to the association.

Araujo has been in the marine industry for more than 25 years, traveling throughout North and South America and the Caribbean, with a specialization in high-level commercial equipment. In addition to his technical background, his duties have included crew supervision and project coordination as an owner of a marine electronics dealership.
