Marine Mover – Simrad appoints Great Lakes regional sales manager

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – Simrad, Inc., the U.S./Canadian distributor for Simrad marine electronics, has appointed industry veteran Russ Patton to the post of Great Lakes regional sales manager, it reported in a statement yesterday.

In his new position, Patton will be responsible for sales of Simrad’s line of marine electronics – including autopilots, GPS/chart plotters, echosounders, radar and integrated SimNet NMEA 2000 network systems – throughout the Great Lakes region.

Patton comes to Simrad with a quarter century of experience in marine electronics on both the technical and sales sides, according to the company. He was an electronics technician with the U.S. Coast Guard for 22 years, involved with a wide variety of activities including installation, operation and training. After retiring from the Coast Guard, Patton worked for more than three years at a marine electronics dealer serving the recreational yachting, commercial marine and military markets. As a sales engineer at this dealership, he was deeply involved in both the sales and technical side of the business.

“We are very pleased to welcome somebody of Russ’ caliber into the Simrad, Inc. family,” said Sales Director David Parkinson. “His combination of military and professional experience gives him a unique perspective on our business. We’re confident his knowledge of the technical and sales side of this complex industry will help him better relate to the challenges our Great Lakes dealers face and better meet their needs.”
