Marine Mover – NMMA promotes three to director roles, adds to marketing department

CHICAGO – The National Marine Manufacturers Association has changed the structure of its marketing communications department, according to a statement from the organization Wednesday.

Ellen Hopkins is now director of communications, Dan Green is director of trade communications, and Jonathan Shapiro has been hired as the new director of promotions. All will report to Carl Blackwell, vice president of marketing and communications.

Hopkins, who joined NMMA in 2004, will be responsible for the overall public relations and communications efforts for NMMA. She will lead the association’s consumer public relations program and manage outreach efforts by the external agencies that handle public relations efforts for the association’s national PR program and its 23 consumer boat shows.

Green, who came to NMMA in 2000, will lead the association’s trade communications efforts, serving as the lead contact for the recreational boating industry’s trade publications and consumer boating magazines and directing outreach efforts for the industry’s Grow Boating program and other association initiatives.

In the new director of promotions role, Shapiro is responsible for managing the execution of national Discover Boating promotions, local and regional promotions for boat shows and maximizing media related value added promotions for boat shows.
