Lewis Marine founders pass away

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Jim and Alice Lewis, owners of Lewis Marine Supply – a wholesale supply business with locations in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Cocoa, Fla., Edenton, N.C., Greenport, N.Y. and Rockland, Maine – died within a week of one another in early May, friends reported recently.

Alice Lewis passed away first due to heart failure with Jim Lewis passing eight days later. They founded the business in 1956 and were both 83, having been married for 57 years.

“We suspect Jim died of a broken heart,” friends of the couple said in their release. “They were great friends, wonderful parents and proud grandparents. They will be sorely missed.”

The couple’s son, Steve Lewis, will continue as CEO of Lewis Marine Supply.
