Marine Mover – Simrad names marketing director

LYNNWOOD, Wash. – Marine electronics manufacturer Simrad, Inc. has appointed company veteran Paul Comyns to the position of marketing director, Simrad said in a recent press release.

In his new position, Comyns will oversee all advertising, public relations and marketing activities in North America, encompassing the company’s three primary market segments — yachting/recreational, commercial and government.

Comyns will report directly to Simrad, Inc. President Brian Staton and work closely with the company’s professional agency team – marine advertising specialists JDM Communications of Annapolis, Md. and public relations agency Strike Zone Communications of Chatsworth, Calif.

“Paul will play a key role in the future growth and success of Simrad, Inc., and he is stepping in at a most exciting time,” said Staton. “The past year has been one of change and reorganization for us, and we’ve emerged from it a leaner, stronger and better prepared company

For the past 7-1/2 years, Comyns has served as project manager/Marketing for Simrad, working out of the company’s worldwide headquarters in Norway. In this position, he was responsible for creating all of the marketing materials used globally, as well as managing all marketing activities throughout Europe. Prior to this, Comyns worked for 10 years with Robertson in the United Kingdom until it was acquired by Simrad and became part of the Simrad family.

“I’m excited about this new challenge and happy to join the Simrad, Inc. team at a time of such great potential,” said Comyns. “I’m looking forward to working closely with Brian, our market segment sales directors, our agency support team and especially the U.S. boating and fishing media to realize this potential.”
