Boat accident proves fatal for Sea Ray executive

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Brunswick Corp. and its boat company, Sea Ray, are mourning the death of Ken Oglesby today, according to a company spokesperson.

The vice president and general manager of Sea Ray’s Riverview manufacturing facility died early Sunday due to injuries obtained in a boating accident on Saturday at Douglas Lake, the Knoxville News-Sentinel reported in an article today.

Oglesby was a passenger in a bass boat that collided with a ski boat while both vessels were underway, according to the newspaper. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is investigating the accident.

Oglesby had been with Sea Ray for over 18 years, working in management positions for several of the company’s manufacturing facilities, according to a spokesperson.

“It’s like a death in the family for Sea Ray,” Brunswick said. “Ken was well-known and respected. Our hearts go out to his family.”

The company had bereavement counselors on site this morning for employees, the spokesperson added.
