Marine Mover – NMEA appoints two new board members

SEVERNA PARK, Md. – The National Marine Electronics Association has appointed two new members to its board of directors – Richard Hart and Jim Vander Hey, the association reported in a recent release.

Hart is currently the owner and president of Puget Sound Instrument Co., Inc. PSI has stores in both Seattle and Tacoma, Wash., and its markets include commercial fishermen, yachters, deep-sea vessels and sailors. The company is also active in two-way wireless radio communications, data communication, radio high site management, Unix/Linux computer networks, and even commercial real estate.

Vander Hey is the general manager of Cay Electronics, and has been in the marine electronics industry for 17 years. He has worked in all aspects of the marine electronics field from selling, installing, servicing and purchasing, to filing warranty claims.

“I believe I can use my previous experience to help NMEA as we go toward the future,” said Vander Hey. “The two most exciting developments coming in the future for NMEA is the implementation of the NMEA 2000 Standards and the refinement of the Marine Electronics Installer Certificate Program. This field badly needs a set of standards that technicians can follow when installing electronics.”
