Marine Mover – ShowBoats International names new executive editor
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Luxury-yacht magazine ShowBoats International, has appointed Louisa Rudeen Beckett as its executive editor. She will replace Marilyn Mower, the magazine’s founding executive editor, who will continue to contribute to the publication as its roving editor-at-large, the magazine said in a recent release.
Beckett’s career in the yachting industry spans 17 years. Her previous positions include executive editor at Yachting magazine and, most recently, editor-in-chief at Motor Boating magazine (previously Motor Boating & Sailing). She has also served as managing editor for the 2.4 million-circulation woman’s service magazine, Redbook.
“We’re extremely excited to have Louisa on our staff,” said Jim Gilbert, editor-in-chief. “Her depth of experience and proven commitment to editorial excellence will enhance ShowBoats’ leading position in the industry.”
Beckett joins ShowBoats at a time of change for the magazine, which with its November “Boat Show” issue will feature a complete redesign of the title, with expanded editorial coverage, new features and enhanced production values, including a new trim size, according to the magazine.
