Marine Mover: Markel appoints new marine director

PEWAUKEE, Wis. – Markel American Insurance Co. has appointed former claims supervisor Thomas Conroy to the position of marine director, the company said in a statement yesterday.

As claims supervisor, Conroy led the watercraft and recreational vehicle claims team.

Markel American, which has been involved in specialty marine for over 15 years, said Conroy is a member of the International Association of Marine Investigators and has obtained his Associate in Claims (AIC) designation.

“We are pleased with Tom’s decision to become marine director,” said Timberlee Grove, Markel American president and COO. “His leadership and knowledge of the marine industry is exactly the expertise Markel American demands to direct us in the future.”
