Marine Mover: Tigé names new VP of Manufacturing and R&D

ABILENE, Texas – After two and half years at Tigé, Director of Manufacturing Tom Austin has been promoted to vice president of Manufacturing/Product Development and Engineering, the company reported in a statement today.

“The people and systems Tom has put in place, along with the environment he has developed during his time here has yielded dramatic results throughout the manufacturing and R&D departments,” commented company President Charlie Pigeon. “Since he has been at Tigé, our manufacturing efficiency has increased dramatically, our customer service index numbers have increased significantly and we’re improving the way we build our boats by developing new and innovative products. I can’t think of a better way to reward his excellence than by giving him this promotion.”

During his tenure at Tigé, Austin has been instrumental in managing the development of the new Tigé all-composite Life-Plus Core matrix stringer system, the company’s value-driven Switch Series and improving the Tigé Adjustable Performance System (TAPS) to work better with Tigé’s innovative ConvexV hull.

Austin joined Tigé in 2001, bringing with him 20 years of boat building experience. Prior to becoming the director of manufacturing for Tigé, he was a plant manager for the U.S. Marine Corp., an operations manager for Yamaha Corp., a manufacturing development manager for Wellcraft Marine and a quality assurance manager for Bayliner Marine Corp.
