Marine Mover: Honda Marine promotes Simmons to OEM manager
ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Alan Simmons was recently promoted to OEM manager for Honda Marine, the company reported in a statement yesterday. Senior Manager Tom Riggle made the announcement during Honda’s recent national dealer meeting in Boca Raton, Fla.
Simmons will oversee the OEM field organization at Honda, concentrate on growing its relationships with existing OEM accounts and expand to other compatible boat builders, the engine builder reported. He will also handle special market business for the company’s 4-stroke outboards, and will be the main contact for government users.
With more than 20 years of experience in the marine industry, Simmons has served in various capacities at the dealer level before joining Honda, including sales manager and purchasing manager. His experience not only includes boat and engine sales, but also extends to marine accessories, parts, rigging and service, Honda stated.
He began his career at Honda in 1997 as district manager. Within 3 years at the company, Simmons advanced to assistant national sales manager. He holds an MBA in marketing from the University of Maryland.
