Marine Mover: Zavell joins Vanguard Sailboats as national sales manager

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Vanguard Sailboats has added Michael Zavell to the Vanguard team as national sales manager, the company reported in a statement yesterday.

Effective November 24, Zavell will join Vanguard from TPI Composites where he was the director of market development. Prior to that, he was operations manager at Hexcel Corp. and a co-founder of Fiberspar, the company that introduced carbon fiber spars and booms. Zavell was instrumental in all aspects of Fiberspar’s growth during its first ten years of operations, according to the company.

In his new position, Zavell will be responsible for Vanguard’s in-house sales department,
including managing Vanguard sales representatives and their various territories.

“Michael’s breadth of experience and background will be a tremendous asset to Vanguard,” said Chip Johns, president of Vanguard Sailboats.

Zavell graduated from Tufts University and holds his MBA from Babson College.
