New powerboat registrations up 1.1% through June

NMMA’s New Powerboat Registration Report has been updated with data through June. Preliminary data from the report show new powerboat registrations were up 1.1% through June on a rolling 12-month year-over-year basis (R12M YOY) and down 1.3% on a rolling 3-month year-over-year basis.

“While we’re down 2% YTD YOY through June and new powerboat sales weren’t as strong as we would’ve liked heading into the summer, that 2% decline is coming off a 10-year high in 2018,” said Thom Dammrich, NMMA president. “We’re seeing a slight softening in sales of new aluminum-hulled powerboats but demand for most categories remains healthy.”

Insights from the June report include:

  • Sales of new personal watercraft and saltwater fishing boats led growth in Q2 (each up 6%) and accounted for nearly 40% of total new powerboat sales.
