Groupe Beneteau announces Prestige CEO appointment

Erwin Bamps has joined Groupe Beneteau as CEO of Prestige, reporting to Jeanneau Prestige CEO Jean-Paul Chapeleau.

With a Masters in electronics engineering, the 49-year old Dutch-speaking Belgian national, started his career in Asia with a Belgian electronics engineering firm before moving to Dubai in 1998 and then to the Philippines on behalf of a Chinese telecommunications conglomerate.

Bamps joined Gulf Craft in 2002, which builds luxury yachts and fiberglass boats, to head up its industrial and commercial operations, before quickly becoming its CEO.

Over the last 16 years, he has been a key driving force behind the motor yacht builder’s development, especially in the Middle East and Asia.

Created over 20 years ago, Prestige has a network of 200 dealers and its 13 motor yachts ranging from 42 to 75 feet. The brand is widely recognized in Europe and North America.

Bamps will lead its development in the Middle East and Asia, while continuing to strengthen its luxury position across all the markets.

“I firmly believe that Erwin’s industrial, sales and communications expertise, his leadership and his knowledge of the highly exclusive large motor yachts market will enable him to achieve these goals,” Chapeleau said.
