U.S. House Committee approves E15 education amendment

The U.S. House Appropriations Committee has passed an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2019 Interior, Environment and Related Agencies spending bill, which encourages the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to start a new public education campaign regarding E15.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association worked closely with Representative Andy Harris (R-MD-01) who introduced the amendment.

Rep. Harris’s amendment details the problems that E15 causes to marine and small engines. Additionally, the amendment directs EPA to institute a public education and outreach campaign to better inform consumers about the dangers of E15.

NMMA had previously met with Rep. Harris to discuss problems that boaters face with E15 and the need for additional safeguards and education measures.
