Massachusetts workforce bill would help state’s marine industry

A workforce solutions amendment to the Massachusetts Senate Budget Bill recently passed in the state senate. The bill would allocate $100,000 to the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association (MMTA).

Amendment 301 will also allow the marine industry in Massachusetts to become more competitive with neighboring states while keeping marine jobs within the state.

It would also help build build and support workforce development programs, helping to create qualified technical workers to fill the jobs that are currently outstanding in the state.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association government relations team supports the funding, submitting testimony to the Massachusetts Senate about the amendment earlier in May. Amendment 301 will now go to conference committee vote and then on to the governor.
