YBAA announces new officers, board members

J.P. Skov, CPYB, owner of Northstar Yacht Sales, was recently re-elected to a second term as Yacht Brokers Association of America president, leading the association’s board of directors.

The board includes 11 YBAA member yacht sales professionals from throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Skov has been in the marine industry since 1988. He initially worked as a charter captain in the USVI and also on the commercial side running a ship handling tug for Hess Oil in St. Croix. Skov migrated to yacht sales in 1995.

In 2010, he formed Northstar Yacht Sales, LLC, a new boat dealership as well as used boat brokerage. He has served on multiple committees over the past 20 years and has been an active member of the YBAA board since 2011.

“I’ve been an active member of YBAA from the time I made the decision to become a full time yacht broker many moons ago,” Skov said. “I’ve always realized the value of being associated with a professional organization within the industry. YBAA’s accepted business practices, code of ethics and certified professional yacht broker (CPYB) certification, provides a benchmark that our clients can look for as a reassurance that they are dealing with an industry professional.”
