IBBI announces supplier award winners
Independent Boat Builders Incorporated recently gathered its members and suppliers in St. Louis, Mo. for the organization’s annual conference, where several suppliers were recognized.
Garmin was honored with the John “Walkabout” Sisson IBBI Innovation Award for its ActiveCaptain, all-in-one mobile app for mariners.
“It’s an honor to be recognized with IBBI’s Innovation Award,” said Dave Dunn, director of marine sales for Garmin. “We’re committed to continuing to provide IBBI members with cutting edge technology.”
IBBI President Tom Broy said members voted among several products during our meeting, and Garmin’s product is a great representation of the innovative thinking IBBI looks look for when honoring John “Walkabout” Sisson, who served on the IBBI Board of Directors and on the Technical Committee and was always looking for ways to bring innovation to the IBBI members.
IBBI also honored top-rated suppliers during the meeting. The award winners were chosen on the basis of a survey that IBBI members completed that rated suppliers in five key categories: Product quality, delivery, technical service, customer service/warranty claims/returns, and accurate invoicing.
Florida Marine Tanks was awarded the overall IBBI Supplier of the Year distinction. “FMT appreciates your confidence and support in recognizing us as IBBI Supplier of the Year,” said Chris Schiphof, director of sales for Florida Marine. “FMT values our partnership with all IBBI members. Our team will continue to work extremely hard to create value and program benefits for each IBBI Member.”
Composites One and AcryliCo were also given Supplier of the Year honors. Outstanding Partner Awards were presented to suppliers that narrowly missed out on the top awards – Vectorply, Piedmont Plastics, and Ashland.
“One of the largest keys to our group’s success is partnering with the industry’s top suppliers. Our supplier base continually exceeds our expectations for the service level and commitment for our members,” Broy said. “Our award winners and their teams work very hard to support to our members. They appreciate the IBBI mission and are fully committed to making our contracts successful. It is an honor to be able to recognize their dedication with these awards.”
