Grand Isle Marina named 2017 ValvTect Marina of the Year

During the month of January, ValvTect Petroleum Products acknowledged and awarded one of their growing family of certified marinas marketing ValvTect Marine Fuels with the Marina of the Year Award.

The award recognizes a single marina not only for its commitment to business and to the community, but also for the exceptional qualities that set it apart among boaters and other marina operators.

At the recent International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) in New Orleans, ValvTect officially awarded the 2017 ValvTect Marina of the Year Award to Grand Isle Marina in Grand Haven, Michigan. The award was presented to Grand Isle’s General Manager, Brian Kaloper.

Grand Isle is a “full service” marina offering a host of amenities and services to its members and boaters including wet slips and dry rack storage, engine service, canvas & carpentry shop, electronic installations, haul-outs, bottom painting and much more.

Since becoming a Safe Harbor location in 2016, the marina has undergone multiple changes and improvements to better serve their boating members. Among the many enhancements are personal parking for wet slip members and an indoor pool & spa.

Currently, Grand Isle is remodeling their Ship’s Store and Fuel Dock and the project is scheduled to be completed by late spring in time for the beginning of the 2018 boating season. Grand Isle has also made advances with environmental practices and their “Clean Marina” certification is currently pending.

“With an ever increasing number of worthy contenders, deciding a winner gets more difficult every year,” said ValvTect President, Marvin Griffin. “Personally, I think they are all winners, but we can only have one, and this year, that marina is Grand Isle,” he added.

In order to better recognize and appreciate the hard work and level of effort by all marina staff, ValvTect is excited to announce a new event format that will combine this year’s Marina of the Year Award celebration with the May 2018 Grand Opening of Grand Isle Marina’s brand new Ship’s Store and Fuel Dock.

“Under the new ownership of Safe Harbor Marinas, creating added value for our members through strategic partnerships is one of our top priorities,” Kaloper said. “Our partnership with ValvTect undoubtedly brings value to Grand Isle members and we cannot thank the ValvTect team enough for their support and the professionalism they deliver with their product line.”

“As the world’s largest owner and operator of marinas, we view partnerships like the one we have formed with the ValvTect team as a key to our continuing success,” said Safe Harbor Regional Vice President, Jerry Parsons. “Because of our size, we are in a unique position to not only deliver unmatched value for our boaters, but also set a new standard for our industry.”
