NMMA’s government relations team launches ‘State of the Month’

As part of its increased advocacy efforts in 2018, the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s government relations team is launching a new, ‘State of the Month’ initiative.

The team will engage with members of Congress and their staff for top recreational boating and fishing states in a highly focused way, meeting with them on key issues impacting the industry.

The first state will be Florida for the month of February. There are 27 members of Congress in Florida, the top boating state for boat registrations and new product sales, and nine of these members who are part of the Congressional Boating Caucus, including Boating Caucus co-chair Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D-FL).

The NMMA team will shine a light on the boating industry in Florida in their meetings, timed with the Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show, an event which alone generates $854 million in annual economic impact for the state.

In addition to the many meetings and discussions on issues facing our industry, the NMMA team will be documenting their ‘State of the Month’ efforts on social media, reinforcing to key decision makers, the size, breadth, and positive impact of recreational boating and fishing.

What’s more, in certain months, the team will invite members of Congress to tour NMMA member plants and facilities, putting the jobs, innovation and economic activity created by the recreational boating front-and-center.
