Scout Boats breaks ground for plant expansion

Scout Boats, Inc. is expanding its Summerville, S.C., manufacturing headquarters with the addition of a 120,000-square foot building on its campus called Plant D. An onsite groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The new facility will be comprised of 100,000-square feet of dedicated manufacturing space for the new 530 LXF model set to debut in late 2018, along with an additional 20,000-square feet dedicated for additional product development and engineering.

Plans for the facility include moving the production of the current 420 LXF into this new building as well.

“We’re investing $10.9 million into this expansion, with plans to expand our skilled labor force by 370 over the next few years,” said Scout CEO/Founder Steve Potts. “This expansion is necessary for the continued growing demand of our product, and will be a state-of-the-art production facility for our new flagship model debuting next year.”

Plant D is expected to be completed by Summer 2018, and will bring the Scout campus size to over 350,000-square feet, comprising nearly 40 acres.

“This expansion is important not only for our brand, but also for the surrounding Dorchester County community and the state of South Carolina as a whole,” Potts added.
