Industry mourns Star brite’s Jerry Pittman

Star brite mourns the passing of Jerry Pittman, former Star brite national sales manager, marine industry institution and dear friend.

Jerry was a lifelong part of the original Star brite team in the early 70s. He was a Texas-sized character fondly remembered for his antics at dealer shows that have become legendary tales still shared today at company dinners and gatherings.

“Jerry was an integral part of building the company to what it is today. He was dearly loved by his co-workers and the entire

marine industry and will be missed,” said President and Founder Peter Dornau.

Jerry Dwayne Pittman, age 77, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19. He is survived by his wife Peggy, and children Sondra Cockerell, Michael Pittman and wife Jackie, Greg Pittman and wife Colleen; his six grandchildren, Quintan Cockerell and wife Kristin, McKinsey Cavuoti and husband Whitney, Caroline Bohne and husband Trent, Andrew Pittman, Cameron Pittman and Hannah Pittman; two great grandchildren Emma Cavuoti, Hollis Cavuoti, and his beloved dachshund Maggie Sue.

A visitation and funeral service was held Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas 75067, with a burial to follow at Old Hall Cemetery, 1500 McGee Lane, Lewisville, TX 75067.

  1. So sad to hear about Jerry passing. He was a great guy and will surely be missed by the entire marine industry. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends.
