July powerboat registrations up 6.1 percent

The National Marine Manufacturers Association’s New Powerboat Registrations Report has been updated through July 2017, and advance data show new powerboat registrations were up 6.1 percent year-over-year for the rolling twelve-month period through July. 
Highlights from the report include:

  • All boat segments were up through July R12M YOY. Growth in registrations was led by the following segments: jet boats (up 10.9 percent), tow boats (up 9.5 percent), personal watercraft (up 9.4 percent), pontoons (up 7.7 percent), cruisers (up 7 percent) and saltwater fishing boats (up 6.8 percent).
  • Outboards boats, which represent 65 percent of total new powerboat sales, were up 5.5 percent in registrations.
  • Larger boats 27’ and greater were up 10.3 percent through July R12M YOY.
