Boston Whaler unveils new Montauk editions for 60th anniversary

Boston Whaler has released modern-day editions of its classic Montauk design as part of the company’s 60th anniversary celebration.

“The Montauk has always been about effortless utility and purposeful design,” said Jeff Vaughn, Whaler vice president of sales, marketing and customer service. “We worked to maintain that clean simplicity and ultimate reliability, while leveraging customer feedback to implement strategic upgrades.”

First unveiled in Sarasota during Whaler’s weeklong anniversary celebration kickoff, the new 150 and 170 Montauk each feature a precision-engineered hull, are suited to yacht tendering duties and are equipped with Mercury engines.

Anglers can choose from numerous options to customize the 150 or 170 Montauk to their needs. The optional fishing package adds a compass, a 36-quart or 72-quart cooler seat with cushion and backrest, console-mounted rod holders and tackle drawers.

Raymarine electronics packages — including RealVision 3D technology — are also available to enhance fishfinding and navigation capabilities.

The 170 Montauk also features an integrated 25-gallon fuel tank and an integrated forward fish box with overboard drainage.

The 150 and 170 Montauk are available with a teak package that includes teak boarding steps and swim ladder flooring.

For model year 2018, the boats will also feature a custom 60th Anniversary badge. The new 150 and 170 each include a standard galvanized trailer with swing tongue, disc breaks and LED lights.

“Boston Whaler has always been committed to getting boaters out on the water quickly and easily,” said Whaler President Nick Stickler. “The new 150 and 170 Montauk celebrate that spirit of functionality and ease. We’re proud to debut them as a cornerstone of our 60th anniversary celebration.”
