Powerboat registrations up 5 percent through June 2017

The National Marine Manufacturer Association’s New Powerboat Registrations Report has been updated through June, and advance data show new powerboat registrations were up 5 percent year-over-year for the rolling 12-month period through June. Highlights from the report include:

  • Nearly all segments were up through June (R12M YOY). Growth in registrations was led by the following segments: jet boats (up 10.9 percent), tow boats (up 8 percent), saltwater fishing boats (up 7.9 percent), pontoons (up 7.8 percent) and personal watercraft (up 7.1 percent).
  • Outboards boats, which represent 65 percent of total new powerboat sales, were up 4.9 percent in registrations.
  • Larger boats, 27-feet and greater, were up 8.4 percent through June (R12M YOY).
