Skeeter Boats announces new trailer factory

Skeeter Boats announced the establishment of a new trailer factory. Skeeter Built trailers will provide 100 percent of Skeeter boat production starting in the third quarter of this year. As a part of the expansion, Skeeter will add up to 35 new employees who will be based in the 43,000-square-foot trailer factory in Kilgore, Texas.

“The expansion into the boat trailer category was another step with our overall focus on the vertical integration aspects of our business,” said Jeff Stone, senior vice president, Skeeter Boats, Inc. “It is a natural fit for us to build custom-designed trailers for our Bass, Bay and Deep V boats. With the addition of Skeeter Built Trailers, we are now positioned as an industry leader in delivering the total boat/trailer package to our customers.”

Production levels for the new Skeeter Built Trailers will match boat production levels, ensuring each Skeeter boat and trailer are completed at the same time. All 2018 Skeeter Bass and DV models will have a Skeeter Built trailer manufactured in the new Skeeter facility; all Bay boat aluminum trailers will be transitioned within the next 12 months.

Skeeter will leverage in-house designers for customization techniques, and the Skeeter Built factory will also incorporate Digital wheel and axle alignment technology.
