Three workshops announced for NATDA Trade Show & Convention

The North American Trailer Dealers Association announces three specialized workshops for the 2017 NATDA Trade Show & Convention’s Technical Training hosted by LINK Trailer Parts. Dexter Axle, CURT Group and B&W Trailer Hitches will provide dealers with something they can “take back to the shop” from technical experts in the trailer industry.

Below is a brief overview of the free Technical Training being held on Thursday, Sept. 7 between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Professional Gooseneck Hitch and 5th Wheel Hitch Sales & Installation

This class, hosted by B&W Trailer Hitches, will help novice and seasoned installers deepen their understanding of sales and installation fundamentals and increase product/consumer safety, installation proficiency and the service department’s profitability. Instructor Chris Long will help attendees learn how to select the correct products for the customer’s needs and outline the responsibilities that dealers/installers have when becoming a heavy-duty towing products provider. Attendees will find out why certain installation practices are important, why they should be followed and discover techniques that ensure customer safety and product longevity. The workshop will help service writers gain a better understanding of installation timing and estimating labor costs.

Fundamentals of Receiver Hitch and Basic Wiring Installation

Many trailer dealerships shy away from performing tow package installations for customers who want to pull smaller utility trailers behind their unequipped cars, crossovers, and light SUVs. In association with CURT Group, Connected Correctly’s Chris Long and CURT’s National Training Manager Keith Gehrke will walk attendees through a complete tow package installation process using high-quality, American-made, CURT towing products. This will be an excellent opportunity for experienced technicians to sharpen their skills and for newer technicians to learn the best methods of hitch and wiring harness installation.
Dexter Multi-Point Service Inspection Checklist
Dexter will walk attendees through a multi-point service inspection checklist associated with trailer running gear and brake actuation. Dexter technicians will also share some service and repair tips, considerations when selecting a trailer and appropriate running gear, and highlight upsell opportunities to increase profits. Dealers in attendance will receive a printed and electronic service checklist that will include important tips to look for such as tire wear pattern and opportunities for upsell (i.e. forward self-adjusting brakes).
