Suntex Marina Investors LLC announced it has appointed Bob Hensley to the post of general manager of Kentucky Dam Marina in Gilbertsville, Kentucky.
Hensley has been in the marina industry for over 35 years. As a young man he worked with his father as a commercial fisherman in his spare time on the Great Lakes, a career path he continued on and off through much of his young life. After earning a business degree and a brief stint in banking, Henlsey continued on his path in the marine industry as a full time commercial fisherman and delivery skipper. Hensley later attended the United States Maritime Academy where he earned his license as a Maritime Marine Officer and ultimately became certified as a 200-ton Master Mariner. For 25 years he delivered yachts around the world including Italy, France, Croatia, Spain, Australia, South Korea and Russia before deciding to return home. Hensley moved into marina management and his most recent post was managing Battery Park Marina in Sandusky, Ohio. He is a member of the International Shipmasters Association.
“I am very excited to be able to work with the Suntex management team to help develop the Kentucky Dam property,” said Hensley. “This location has a dedicated member base that deserves the absolute best customer experience. I have always focused on being a hands on problem solver and look forward to bringing this set of skills to bear on the extensive updates we have planned for the property.”
“Bob has years of applicable experience, particularly as a boater and professional captain staying in marinas all over the world,” said Bryan Redmond, principal, Suntex Marinas. “This experience, combined with his down-to-Earth style, will allow him to relate to our members from their perspective. After they meet him, we know that Bob will earn the respect of our members who are passionate about Kentucky Dam.”
