Tri-State Marine donates $7,100 to Maryland Department Of Veterans Affairs

Tri-State Marine, a Deale boat dealer, awarded a $7,100 donation today to the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs’ Maryland Veterans Trust. One hundred percent of the donation will go to assisting Maryland veterans who are experiencing temporary financial difficulties.

Tri-State Marine President John Byrnes, General Manager Bill Gay and Sales Consultants Ronald Young, Robert Warren and Tim Swinburn attended the presentation. During a brief ceremony, Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary George W. Owings III and the Maryland Veterans Trust Grant Administrator were presented with the check from Tri State Marine President Byrnes. Also in attendance were Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs Director of Outreach, Dana Hendrickson, Veteran Andrew Kerhulas, USAR, Viet Nam and Veteran Joseph Finall, USMC.

“Everyone at Tri-State Marine is proud to have helped make this contribution,” said Byrnes. “For decades, our business has been an integral part of Maryland boaters so we feel it’s important for us to give back to our community. Certainly, our hometown heroes, our brave men and women veterans, deserve all the assistance we can give and the Maryland Veterans Trust is the ideal charity to help them.”

“The Maryland Veterans Trust is a unique state program in that 100 percent of donations go to assisting veterans,” said Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary George Owings. “The department graciously accepts this donation and extends our gratitude to Tri-State Marine for supporting the Trust.”

Since its inception in 2010, the Maryland Veterans Trust has provided more than $180,000 in grants and loans to veterans.  With authorization from the Maryland General Assembly, the Trust acquired 501(c)(3) status in 2014, permitting the Trust to procure more donations and help more veterans in need.
