Landings School student wins NMRA scholarship
The National Marine Representatives Association presented its second 2016 scholarship of $1,500 to Lane Peterson. The annual award is given to an outstanding student pursuing education in the marine trades.
Peterson is a yacht design and boatbuilding student at The Landings School in Arundel, Maine. Growing up in Arizona, 7,000 feet above sea level, he learned woodworking while making model boats and developed a lifelong love of serving others through his faith. Active in his new community, he’s known as “Noah, the shipbuilder of the desert.”
The Landings School offered Peterson the subject areas that interested him, and the high likelihood for career success.
“With a high demand for qualified builders, designers and technicians,” he said, “I have confidence that there’s a place for me and my skill in the boating industry.”
With an expected graduation date of June, 2017, he is currently in conversation with numerous notable boatbuilders across the country.
Founded in 1960, NMRA is a national organization serving marine industry independent sales reps and the manufacturers who sell through reps. It functions as an industry voice, networking tool and information source, promoting the benefits of utilizing independent sales reps.
