Industry mourns Peter Spiegel

The Smoker Craft family announced the loss of a dear friend and colleague on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, with the sudden passing of Peter Spiegel.

A Smoker Craft employee for 21 years, Spiegel was well known and highly respected across the recreational boating industry. In his capacity as regional director of sales, Spiegel played a significant role in developing Smoker Craft’s substantial dealer network across Canada and in promoting the Smoker Craft, Starcraft, Sylvan and SunChaser brands. A passionate boater himself and a tireless advocate for the boating industry, Peter freely donated his time and energy in support of numerous industry initiatives, including serving on the board of directors for the National Marine Manufacturers Association of Canada (NMMA Canada).

“Beyond his sizable industry contributions, Spiegel was best known for his warm smile, hearty laugh and genuine friendship. Spiegel’s sense of humor and incredible zest for life always brought out the best in those around him,” said Smoker Craft in a statement.

Spiegel is survived by his wife, Lisa, and by his daughters, Julia and Jessica. Funeral services still pending.

  1. The loss to the Marine Industry of an individual of Peter Spiegel’s character is very significant. The loss of Peter to those of us privileged to have known him, worked with him, and called him “Friend” is crushing. The fact that I knew him will always be a point of pride.

  2. Jeff,

I can’t agree with you more. In the decade or so which I had the opportunity to work with Peter, he always served as a willing mentor and collaborator. Always talking proudly about his family, he was truly a role model as a friend and a guiding force within the industry. I’m just heartbroken by the loss.
