Larson introduces four new boats to FX series

Larson Boat Group’s FX series is introducing an all-new 1750 and 2020 for the 2017 model year. Both models are offered in a dual console and tiller version.

The hull bottom of the new 1750, 2020 and existing 1850 are designed and engineered for the weekend angler but with the tournament pro and fishing guide mindset and requirements. When looking at the hull, the design and style cues immediately noticed above the water line is the flared hull side for reduced wave impact and water splash for that dry ride.

The other key hull bottom design aspects are all below the water line. The chines on the new FX models are tapered, wide in the stern and narrow in the bow for wave impact. The FX series has a huge, extended keel for back trolling efficiency. Finally, the strakes run the entire length of the hull bottom for lift and tracking at low speeds when on the fish. Found on the new 1750 and 2020 series, is a small pad at the transom to increase performance when running to the next “catching” spot.

The new FX’s take many feature cues from the Larson FX 1850 series boats.

Whether it is the dual console or the tiller style, the wide open deck with large bow and rear casting platforms allow the angler work a fish bow to stern and back again before netting it and bringing into the boat. The bow platform starts with a huge center, lockable rod storage.

Included are four, up to 8-foot rod storage tubes with hooks to keep the reels from resting on the ground and banging against each other. There too is a 9″ x 9″ opening for ski storage or for the hardcore angler even more rod storage.

“I can store up to 24 rod and reel sets on my 2020 DC,” said FX Promotional Team member, professional guide and Fishing the Midwest TV host, Mike Frisch.

The bow platform also includes a bow live well and two large, self-draining storage tubs. Each of these storage areas in the bow are kept dry with a deep grove channel to whisk away water as well as large double gasket seals.

Easy access, quick and secure rod storage is located immediately on the bow casting platform. The dual console version includes a small cubbyhole built into the portside console for the butt-ends and a rod buckle forward to secure the rods to the deck. Amid ship is seating for up to four.

Grab the wheel of the dual console version, turn on the optional Rockford Fosgate audio system with protection from a standard TaylorMade wrap around glass windshield with walkthrough or go with the plexiglass windscreen option and head out to your chosen spot(s). The helm console includes plenty of surface area to flush mount large graphs and electronics equipment or dedicated areas to include large graphs and equipment, ram mounted to fit your style of fishing. Port is a large console with a lockable glove box for storage.

In the spirit of the new dual consoles and the amount of space afforded at the helm console, the same attitude was applied to the command center of the tiller models as well. The new designed center allows for up to two 12″ graphs. The command center has a lockable lid to protect your graphs and gear. Just below the graphs and gauges are two large storage doors for access to four Plano tackle boxes. And starboard, aft tucked away in the gunnel is a recessed tackle box storage door that is hinged to reveal 3 additional slots to securely hold large Plano boxes for easy access and convenient storage.

Aft is smaller casting platform, where a large, aerated live well is found. Or separate the live well to create a combo livewell / baitwell set-up. The FX is really set up to work like you do.

The aft casting platform on the dual console also converts to seating for two, with standard fold down seats. When in the closed position walk comfortably port to starboard or fish standing up in a spot. Then flip up the seat back and sit comfortably as you run from spot to spot. Now you have seating for six in the cockpit of the boat, regardless 17, 18 or 20-feet in a Larson FX dual console model.

“We might call our FX boats, multi-species fishing boats that are the perfect boats to catch anything that will eat what is on the other end of the line, but they too are multi-functional family oriented boats as well,” stated Gary Zimmer, Larson Boat Group vice president of product development and engineering. “Captain’s seats for the driver and passenger with armrest and recliner swivel feature, plus snap-in cushions that abut to the port and starboard console the bow becomes a quick and easy sun lounge area. When not fishing and wanting another platform to play, the optional ski pylon is within reach to pull a tube, a skier or wakeboarder. This boat serves as the ultimate crossover platform for the avid-fisherperson and family for a full day on the water.”

Whether Mercury, Yamaha, Evinrude or Suzuki, the Larson FX 1750 DC, 1750 TL, 2020 DC and 2020 TL has power options ranging from 60 to 300 horsepower (depending on model).
