Marine Trades Association of Maryland hires new workforce program manager

The Marine Trades Association of Maryland announced Friday the appointment of Lauri A. Petroy to head the organization’s workforce development initiative.

The program manager position is responsible for the development of a comprehensive marketing and outreach campaign to increase awareness of viable career pathways in the marine industry, the recruitment of new and experienced workers to jobs in the boating industry and the coordination of further training for those already working in the industry. Petroy will also serve, along with MTAM Executive Director Susan Zeller, as the liaison for continuing grant proposals for the Maryland EARN (Employment Advancement Right Now) program.

“I am thrilled to be part of the management team for the Marine Trades Workforce Development program and look forward to building this into an exceptional program for young adults to start a career,” Petroy said.

As a project consultant and corporate software trainer, with Vertical Marketing Inc. in Virginia, Petroy has experience in database management and marketing. During her employment with a culinary arts and IT trade school, she effectively improved the student record tracking system for annual DOE audits increasing the school’s overall rating.

“We’re excited about the direction that our organization is taking with the promotion of careers in the marine trades and are pleased to have Lauri working on behalf of this effort,” said Eric Bradley, board president and marina manager with Oasis Marinas.
