Volvo Penta of the Americas announced Monday that Dave Brown has joined the company as director of commercial marine sales.
In this new position, Brown will provide strategic and administrative direction and leadership to support overall segment growth. His primary focus will be to secure and maintain effective business relationships with governmental agencies, OEMs, dealers and customers in the marine commercial engine market. He will report to Marcia Kull, vice president of marine sales for Volvo Penta of the Americas.
Brown has a 17-year background in business development and sales. Prior to joining Volvo Penta, he was national sales director for Chemring Sensors and Electronic Systems. In this role, he was responsible for business development opportunities within the Department of Defense (DoD), Special Forces and NATO Allies defense markets, in addition to directing new sales strategies within the commercial market. He has also held senior sales positions with Mine Safety Appliances, Airgas Safety and Clean Harbors Environmental Service Company. He spent five years as marine science technician with the U.S. Coast Guard.
Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts in environmental science at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
“We have appointed Dave Brown to this newly created position to help drive further growth in Volvo Penta’s established commercial marine business,” said Kull. “He has a proven track record of success in penetrating new markets and capturing strategic wins in government and commercial market sectors.”
